Introducing a Library collection with free resources to take home and keep for mental health, recovery, and personal growth.
There is no check-out for these materials – just take what you need with you for free. This collection offers confidential, compassionate materials to support individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance use, trauma, and healing.
The Safe Haven collection also includes free comfort supplies. You’re welcome to take any of the personal hygiene items provided – no cost, no questions asked.
This collection was created in partnership with the North Oakland Community Coalition and the Friends of the Orion Township Library.

It helps users find substance abuse services, including detoxification, residential, and outpatient programs, often funded by state or non-profit resources.

They are passionate about helping people connect and empowering individuals seeking freedom from narcotics addiction by providing immediate, reliable access to Narcotics Anonymous meetings, accredited treatment centers, and expert-baked resources across the United States.
North Oakland Community Coalition (NOCC)
Supports the Lake Orion and Oxford communities by promoting mental and physical health for all, free of alcohol and substance misuse, through educational programs, collaborative partnerships, and endless faith in community spirit.
Provides comprehensive wraparound support for low-income individuals and families in Oakland and Livingston Counties, with a focus on economic security, education, housing, and health. Key offerings include emergency assistance (utilities/housing), weatherization, WIC, and financial counseling to help residents overcome poverty and achieve stability. Love In the Name of Christ of North Oakland County (Love INC)

Older Persons’ Commission (OPC) Meals on Wheels
Program for seniors unable to shop and/or prepare meals. Meals on Wheels allows a senior to age in place, encouraging independence for those who wish to remain in their home for as long as possible. This program is more than just a meal. Volunteers provide a wellness check in addition to delivering a hot, nutritious meal to homebound seniors. There is no waiting list, and meals are received within 24 hours of request. To receive a meal, call (248) 608-0264 between 8 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday. A Nutrition Assessor will schedule a home visit to confirm eligibility.
